Mining

Mining Fuel SolutionsMining presents one of the biggest challenges to fuel quality that is known.  Short term storage, long term storage, unknown or undeclared additives used by the fuel vendors, and unnecessary filter changes are all problems that require assessment prior to any solution.

The typical industrialized mining operation requires large amounts of fuel stored on site to avert environmental factors and eliminate downtime due to delivery problems.  Due to the fact that the fuel has no time to settle we see large amounts of emulsified water and particulates.  The particulates can generally be handled by filter vessels.  Deteriorated fuel transferred from the fuel supplier will eventually get pumped into your equipment.  This sludge will clog filters and reduce engine performance, thereby slowing the production of any major piece of equipment.

Our LGX Series Fuel Conditioners will prevent and or solve this problem.  Using an LGX Fuel Conditioner will extend filter life and help ensure that the equipment will meet filter PM or perhaps longer.  Clean fuel also ensures that the engine does not suffer reduced power or efficiency.

  Fuel Storage Tanks

Stored fuel is generally kept in an environment that is less than ideal.  Dust, dirt, water, snow and ice are just a few of the contaminants that are lurking for the chance to cause damage to your equipment.  Most mining operations do not see serious problems in the warmer months.  However, when things get cooler the fuel's pour point changes and begins to gel.  In some cases the emulsified water in fuel will actually freeze in the filters on the machinery.  When this happens the machine goes down and production either slows or stops.  This costs any mining operation money.  And every mine maintenance manager serious headaches.

What is your cost due to poor fuel quality?

  • Unscheduled Filter Changes?
  • Equipment Downtime?
  • Injection Equipment Repairs?
  • Loss of Production?
  • Poor Engine Performance?

Our solutions are studied on a case by case basis to determine the proper solution. These solutions range from special filtration to stationary tank fuel maintenance to mobile tank polishing and cleaning.  These products will keep your fuel maintaineddiesel fuel sludge in piping and meet the ASTM standard.
