System installation Western Branch Diesel
Generator Install Facility
Application: Standby Emergency
Power WBD Facility
Model Specs: Detroit Diesel
60Kw Standby
Fuel: Diesel 500 gallons slow
turn, long term storage
Solution: Prior to the start
of the 2007 hurricane season risk assessment was
performed on the standby generator which provides
emergency power to several buildings on the WBD
facility. Old tanks, spoiled fuel, and lack of
fuel maintenance were primary concerns. The
Algae-X system was installed along with a new tank and
piping bringing the system up to code providing peace of
mind, security and immediate engine start.
Product: Algae-X STS6000-4GPM.
A fully automated fuel polishing system moving 4 gallons
per minute, programmable timer, 80 hour memory (for
total power failure), inlet screen/water separator, spin
on fine particulate secondary filter, full alarm display
and system status on door. Treatment of fuel with
proper proportion of AFC705 Fuel Catalyst.
Notes: Initial startup of the
system lasted for 1.5 hours of run time. The unit
shutdown from a no flow alarm. Inspection showed
that the new fuel delivered came with free water.
The inlet water separator removed that and the fine
particulate spin on filter absorbed the balance.
Filters were replaced and the system has worked flawless
for over 12 months and almost 300 hours.
